»Global Geopark and Forest Art - A Collaboration of Regional and International Networks«

Abstract

The time and space cycles of the Earth have inspired mankind down the ages. One of the languages to communicate this inspiration is art. The Global Geopark Bergstrasse-Odenwald has developed a wide range of cooperation projects, inside the territory as well as in the frame of the Global Network of Geoparks, which combine Earth history and nature with art, together with single artists and Art Associations.

The biennial International Forest Art Association develops a special Forest Art Trail inviting artists from all over the world whose artistic creations serve to demonstrate the connection of human beings with nature and the forest. In the frame of close collaboration, the Geopark delivers information and communication, co-organizes events (e.g. the International Forest Art Conference) and implements international partnerships together with the Global Geopark Network.

Both - the Global Geopark as well as the International Forest Art Association represent regional and international networks. Inside the Global Geoparks Network, the interest in International Forest Art has grown steadily over the last  years. The resulting fruitful collaboration becomes apparent by the participation of Global Geoparks during the International Forest Art Conferences, by the publication of International Forest Art in the annual European Geoparks Network magazine, as well as by the implementation of the first International Forest Art Trail in the Global Geopark Mt. Lushan, PR China.

With regard to the holistic Geopark concept, International Forest Art is considered as direct communication highway to the public, and the interconnection with Earth history and nature works very successfully.  The creative cooperative projects fit perfectly into our tasks as members of the UNESCO Global Geoparks Network.

Biographie

Als Mitglied im Management des globalen Geoparks Bergstraße-Odenwald ist Jutta Weber verantwortlich für Geowissenschaften, Geo-Pädagogik, Öffentlichkeitsarbeit und internationale Kooperation.

Als Geologin und Naturwissenschaftlerin arbeitete sie einige Jahre als Geowissenschaftlerin an der Universität Köln. Sie ist  Expertin für Werksteine und ihre Verbindung zu Kultur und Geschichte.

Sie ist Delegierte des Koordinationskomitee des European Geoparks Network, der EGN-Redaktion

Und der UNESCO Global Geoparks Expertengruppe.

Ihr spezielles Interesse sit stark an die Philosophie des Geoparks angelehnt: die Disziplinen und Aspekte, Geologie, Natur, Kultur und Kunst zu einem holistischen Ansatz zu kombinieren.

 Im Rahmen des Vereins für Internationale Waldkunst ist sie die wissenschaftliche Partnerin für Waldkunstprojekte und Mitorganisatorin der Internationalen Waldkunstkonferenzen. Die 4. Internationale Waldkunstkonferenz findet im Rahmen der Kooperation zwischen dem Verein für Internationale Waldkunst und dem globalen Geopark Bergstraße-Odenwald statt.
